Apos Kitarum

Apos Kitarum is a recently colonized (within the past 50 years) world on the borders of Orion Spur space, in an area that is often referred to as the "shell" because it encompasses the more familiar OSA territory and travel zones (the outer ring, inner ring, and central sphere, respectively). The shell is an interesting location populated by two major types: military outposts and various criminal elements who are able to get away with a lot that they wouldn't otherwise in inner OSA turf. Apos Kitarum, however, is one of the few exceptions as a populated colony world that currently houses three major cities as well as the SSRAC, the research group in charge or assessing Earth to see if it is suitable for initiating first contact and, later, the potential for invitation to join the Orion Spur Alliance.

I've been doing a lot of messing around with background stuff lately, building a set in sketchup for a test run comic mainly but I took a break for a couple hours to look up some planet tutorials. The main thing I discovered however is that photoshop is a terrible terrible program and I never want to use it any more than I have to. Used alyn's planet tutorial for the main base of it, did some fiddling around on my own, and made some color enhancements in SAI and added an extremely rough and quick render of Syra's ship.
